I needed to replace my table saw in 2010 in order to tackle a full-blown bathroom reno. I have a small basement shop and need to cut plywood sheets in my garage so I wanted something I could easily move between the two workspaces.
After mucho Googling and seeing these great pictures in this forum, I decided that the RIDGID R4510 was the one.
And I haven’t regretted it for a moment.
The setup out of the box was amazingly accurate and needed just a couple of tweaks. I really like the sliding extension table with the retractable measuring tape for ripping panels up to 25″ wide. The folding handle on the latest version provides additional support on the left side of the saw.
The tables on all portables are very short so an outfeed support stand is critical. I picked up a RIDGID Flip Top Stand and I’m pleased with the performance. I’m in the process of designing a short outfeed table that travels on the the saw (Now Available Here). I’ll make the plans available when I get the chance to finish it.
I was pleased to see a couple these being put to the test on a large job site recently. When the pros use them, you know they’re probably well worth the price.
In Canada, Home Depot is the major dealer for RIDGID products. Amazon.com used to list theRIDGID R4510 saw – although the picture shown was NOT the newest version.
If you’re looking for a portable table saw – give this one a real good look.
